DSP processor Brax DSP
The impossible takes a little longer - from the first idea in 2011 to the launch of sales at the end of 2018, the all-new BRAX DSP underwent the longest and most intensive development process in the history of Audiotec Fischer. Brax is proud to present the most advanced digital signal processor that will redefine both sound quality and functionality without any doubt. It is not only the first DSP on the market that deserves to bear the famous BRAX logo, but also raises the performance standard to an unrivaled level. Audiotec Fischer spared no effort to bring every single detail of this technological masterpiece to extremes. The "heart" consists of no less than three of the most advanced 64-bit audio DSPs of the Sigma350 series with an incredible processing power of 3.6 billion MAC operations per second. This allows the entire system to be run at a native sampling rate of 192kHz, extending the audio frequency range to 80kHz. Signal conversion is handled by Asahi Kasei's best-sounding A/D and D/A converters with specifications beyond imagination. Enormous care has been devoted to the design of the power supply, which is a necessary basis for perfect sound quality. A series of 55 voltage regulators cleans and stabilizes all supply voltages for each individual stage separately. A new high-performance 32-bit co-processor (ACO) oversees every operation and ensures the fastest communication with DSP PC-Tool software and the optional DIRECTOR remote control. However, in addition to all its technical advantages, BRAX DSP also marks the beginning of a new era in terms of connectivity. Its unique modular concept makes it possible to configure inputs and outputs either as analog, digital or a combination thereof. It's hard to imagine that with this flexibility, the BRAX DSP won't be able to support any kind of system configuration, either today or in the future. The "total work of art" is completed by a mechanical concept that gives the impression of immortality at first glance. Again, the enormous expenditure from the massive radiator in the typical flat design for BRAX to the cinch jacks milled from the massive is recognizable down to the smallest details.
The main features of the Brax DSP DSP processor
- Three extremely powerful Sigma350 "fixed point" audio DSPs with 64-bit resolution and a total performance of 3.6 billion MAC operations per second.
- State-of-the-art Asahi Kasei "Velvet Sound" A/D and D/A converters with native 32 Bit resolution.
- 192 kHz sampling frequency for ultra High-Res audio band up to 80 kHz.
- Benchmark specifications for eg signal-to-noise ratio and total harmonic distortion, close to measurement limits.
- Modular 8-channel input / 12-channel output concept with interchangeable stereo analog or digital input/output modules to cover all possible system configurations.
- 4 stereo input modules with either analog RCA / RCA and Highlevel or digital optical / coaxial SPDIF input.
- 6 stereo output modules with analog RCA / RCA or digital optical / coaxial SPDIF outputs.
- Output modules with switchable sampling frequency of 48, 96 or 192 kHz.
- Analog output modules with variable filter characteristics and switchable output voltage of 2, 4 or 8 V.
- Another stereo SPDIF input (optical / coaxial) and also a Link module for system expansion.
- Dual BRAX Extension Card (BEC) slot for optional input/output modules such as Bluetooth® Audio Streaming, High Resolution Audio Streaming via USB, etc.
- Unique DSP sound effects such as "Augmented Bass Processing" that dynamically optimizes the bass response of the subwoofer, "StageXpander" that greatly expands the stereo perspective, the "RealCenter" function that enables a perfectly focused soundstage for both the driver and passenger and many another one.
- Incomparably complex power supply concept with a total of 55 voltage regulators and start-stop capability.
- DiSAC (Digital Signal Analog Controlled) volume control in combination with BRAX MX4 PRO.
- ACO - Advanced 32-bit coprocessor for all control and communication tasks.
- 10 internal memory slots for sound settings.
- Switching settings in milliseconds.
- High-speed data transfer and better usability.
- Made exclusively from the best components with the lowest tolerances, fitted in a solid aluminum case.
- Eight-layer main PC board for ultra-low impedance signal transmission and power supply.
- Transmission of analog audio signal only on input and output modules.
