Alpine has created an all-new "Alpine Status" sound system using the same technical and design concepts used in the third generation AlpineF#1Status Ultra High Definition system to achieve high definition sound at a more affordable price. The Alpine Status system is also very flexible: all components can be purchased and used in a "stand-alone" configuration. The HDS-990 Hi-Res Audio multimedia player achieves 192 kHz/24-bit playback via 3 wired USB DAC inputs or a wireless Bluetooth® connection. all hi-res music files stored on a USB or smartphone will be reproduced in the intended specification.It is designed to work in tandem with your original radio (or existing aftermarket car radio) and therefore has no radio or DAB+ tuner or Bluetooth hands-free functions and the like.The Media Player includes a compact controller with buttons for basic music control, a high-resolution color display that shows playback information and album art, a volume control for quick sound control, and a separate black box for flexible installation in the vehicle with a resolution of 4 x 50 W, high-performance RCA outputs and optical TOSLINK & Coax ports enable flexible system assembly with the HDP-D90 amplifier with digital signal processor (DSP).

High-resolution 192 kHz / 24-bit audio playback enables Alpine Status to create an elevated in-vehicle listening experience that mimics the feel of an intimate recording studio session.
• Hi-Res Audio Media Player - The HDS-990 Alpine Status Media Player sounds simply amazing and can play Hi-Res Audio files up to 192kHz / 24bit without oversampling. It supports many different audio formats such as MP3, WMA, AAC, MP4, WAV, FLAC, APE and DSD. Audio sources can be connected to 3 USB ports or streamed via Bluetooth (with a lower sample rate).
• Hide-Away Black-Box design - the media player is designed with a hidden black-box configuration. This makes it very easy to find a suitable place on the dashboard for the thin control panel and at the same time install the 1DIN size black box anywhere behind the dashboard or similar.
• Source input options - you can choose from many source inputs: connect the speaker lines of your original radio to the 4-channel high-level inputs and enjoy all the original sound sources of your vehicle. There is also a 2-channel RCA input, 3 USB ports (support up to 192kHz / 24bit) and of course Bluetooth Audio streaming (support up to 96kHz / 24bit).
• Bluetooth Audio Streaming - thanks to the built-in high-end LDAC and aptX HD standards, a wireless Bluetooth connection to your smartphone or digital audio player with Bluetooth support is also possible. You can stream music in quality up to 96kHz / 24bit. Other supported Bluetooth audio codecs are SBC, AAC and aptX.
• Alpine Status Full System - contains many components that are optimized for power and performance as a complete system for playback in the intended high definition specification for excellent audiophile sound quality. However, each component can be purchased separately to build your own system.
• Wide output options - The HDS-990 offers a wide range of outputs for maximum flexibility when building a system. The 4-channel high-power output (4x 50W) can be used to directly control the door speakers, while the 6-channel RCA output is intended for connecting external amplifiers. There is also optical TOSLINK and a coaxial output for connecting the HDS-990 player to a DSP such as the Alpine Status HDP-D90.
• Extensive audio tuning options - many audio tuning features are already built into the media player, such as 6-channel 31-band parametric equalizer, 3-Way Digital X-Over and digital time correction. These features are useful when the HDS-990 Media Player is used in stand-alone mode without the HDP-D90 DSP amplifier.
• Standalone system or DSP amplifier linkage - You can use the HDS-990 as a standalone system by connecting directly to your vehicle's speakers (or using external amplifiers). However, to use the system's full potential, we recommend pairing it with the HDP-D90 DSP amplifier. This DSP amplifier includes a built-in 12-channel digital amplifier, 31-band parametric EQ per channel, and many other audio tuning features.
• Studio recording specification - Alpine Status achieves 192kHz/24bit playback, which is 6.5 times the amount of digital audio data in a standard CD or digital streaming service and exceeds the standard 96kHz/24bit high definition specification found in most audio aftermarket solution. This allows Alpine Status to capture and accurately reproduce details such as a performer's breath or a musician's subtle interaction with an instrument. This capability not only reproduces the music as originally intended by the artist, but mimics the in-vehicle studio recording experience.
