Meguiar's Lambswool Wash Mitt
Washing gloves are the best choice for gentle and efficient manual car washing. Ordinary sponges cannot absorb dirt that sticks to the paint, and with the sponge you press them on the surface of the paint during washing and can additionally scratch it. A high-quality washing glove effectively absorbs dirt and you will not scratch the paint because you only wash it with the clean fibers of the glove. Therefore, wash your car gently and in such a way as not to create unsightly circular scratches, which are best revealed by direct sunlight on the paintwork.
The washing glove made of lamb's wool is very soft and significantly gentler for washing the car than ordinary sponges. Thanks to fine fibers that capture and absorb dirt, it reduces the risk of scratching the paint. On the other side of this glove is a special surface for removing insects from the bodywork. This extremely soft washing glove made of natural lamb's wool is the ideal helper for anyone who wants to wash their car in a high-quality and safe manner. Combined with Meguiar's premium car shampoos, it will help you achieve brilliant results in the care of your car.
Tips for washing your car
- Careless washing is the main source of paint damage. Improper hand washing, or visiting gantry/brush washers, will inevitably result in scratches and damage to the paintwork.
- Always wash in such a way as to eliminate the risk of damaging the paint.
- Always use only your own, proven shampoo, not over-the-counter shampoos whose origin is unknown to you and whose washing properties have not been carefully verified.
- Do not use dishwashing detergents, household detergents, all non-contact or active cleaners and foams, degreasers, solvents and other detergents. These cleaners are not gentle on the protective wax layer or polishing oils on the paint surface, drying it out and leaving it exposed and without any protection. Unprotected paint will begin to degrade very soon on the surface, its oxidation and loss of gloss will begin to show, it is very dangerously exposed to the adverse effects of the surrounding environment and is significantly more susceptible to mechanical and chemical damage.
- The water you wash your car with should be as close to body temperature as possible.
- Use the two-bucket method or a Meguiar's bucket with a Grit Guard liner.
- Do not use foam sponges or gloves with large braided fibers. These sponges and gloves cannot effectively absorb dirt, and using them can scratch the paint. Use only a gentle washing glove with very fine bristles made of microfiber or natural lamb's wool, which catch small dirt and absorb it.
- Always dry your car after washing. This will prevent the formation of water spots caused by minerals contained in the water. In addition, active drying prevents the redeposition of dust during spontaneous drying.
- For drying, use only the high-quality, extremely absorbentX2000 Meguiar's Water Magnet microfiber drying towel or the top-quality natural chamois X2100 Meguiar's Natural Chamois . Locally, you can dry hard-to-reach areas with compressed air (watch out for re-contamination with oil that can spray out of the nozzle!). We do not recommend drying with a silicone squeegee, which can catch a grain of dust and scratch the paint.
- Meguiar's shampoo does not need to lather at all when washing and still has all its great properties and is 100% gentle. Always mix the shampoo into the water, moreover, there is no need to lather the shampoo.
Recommended procedure for washing a car
- Rinse your car from loose dirt with pressurized water or a sponge from the bottom up. The lower parts of the car are the most dirty, so when rinsing from the bottom up, the water acts on the dirtiest places for the longest time and thus soaks the dirt for the longest time. In addition, all the dirt from the higher parts flows downwards and thus helps to remove soaked dirt from thresholds, wheels or chassis parts.
- Shampoo the entire body from top to bottom, i.e. from the cleanest parts to the dirtiest.
- Always wash the glove thoroughly when soaking in the bucket to remove any dirt and you haven't put it back on the paint.
- Rinse the shampoo from the body using pressurized water or a sponge from top to bottom. The running water will help to remove the shampoo even from hard-to-reach places.
- Finally, rinse the body of the car again slowly from top to bottom, but this time only with a very thin stream of water flowing freely from the hose without a pressure attachment. With this step, up to 80% of the remaining water can be removed from the varnish, making subsequent drying much easier.
- Dry the car with a high-quality, extremely absorbentX2000 Meguiar's Water Magnet microfiber drying towel or the premium X2100 Meguiar's Natural Chamois chamois .
- If necessary, reinforce the protective wax layer with one of Meguiar's quick waxes.
