The engineers at Powerbass have achieved even better performance and control than the previous generation with the newly redesigned 3XL line of subwoofers. Combining a bold new look with the innovation that the 3XL series is known for, PowerBass has created the most advanced, high-performance subwoofer to date. The 3XL series has been designed to withstand the extreme heat generated by the new generation of Class D amplifiers. Class D amplifiers heat up the voice coil of a subwoofer two to three times more and faster than a conventional Class A/B amplifier. This requires special parts that classify them as a true "Class D subwoofer". Powerbass uses industrial mounting adhesives made in the USA that handle this excessive heat that would normally tear apart a regular subwoofer. There's also a perimeter vent that allows air to move through a voice coil built into a custom-milled and cast aluminum basket. The basket acts as a solid base for the solid, unpressed raw pulp membrane and PBX's redesigned inverted dust cap. All 3XL subwoofers feature HD BASV high-temperature voice coil windings to help dissipate heat. To allow for full diaphragm movement, Powerbass uses an ultra high NBR suspension that increases the diaphragm area for higher performance along with linear diaphragm stability throughout the subwoofer from peak to peak. To ensure that the high voltage from the amplifier gets to the subwoofers, they have designed new square spring nickel plated terminals and incorporated large FEA optimized Xtra Xtra Xtra triple stacked magnets to handle the high power these subwoofers are designed for. The 3XL subwoofers are available in 8", 12" and 15" sizes in dual 1-ohm or dual 2-ohm versions to maximize the performance of your amplifiers.
