If you want the best sound and all the dynamic range your system is capable of, you'll need a signal line driver. In the 90s, every decent deck had a 4 volt preamp output. Some had 8V and some even 12V. But now even the best units are only 4V RMS and most are barely 2V, and that's only 2 volts at 1KHz. What does it mean? First, with less signal passing through the RCA cables, you have to turn up the amp to get volume. Then your system has more background noise and probably more distortion. An even greater tragedy is that you are compressing the dynamic range of the music. You lose the difference between quiet and loud and the music sounds "canned". There is no life in music. What is the answer? Zapco Signal Line Driver Preamplifier. The Zapco ASP-L6 is a two-channel line driver providing a true 9.5V RMS preamplifier output and 14V peak output. With this line control, you can leave the gain of the amplifier at the very minimum and still get maximum power and maximum dynamic range from the amplifier. Since the job of the line drivers is to amplify the preamplifier signal, it is absolutely essential that the line driver does not introduce any inherent noise or distortion into the system. This is why Zapco uses only premium Elna Silmic ll capacitors and audiophile OP275 op amps in the signal path of BT drivers L6 and L2. The ASP-L2 has one pair of inputs, but has 2 pairs of outputs, so you can run a bass and treble amp on the same preamp output. And of course each output signal gets 9.5V RMS.
Bluetooth streaming
The Zapco ASP-L2 BT is not just an amazing 9.5V RMS line driver. It's also a Bluetooth input for your sound system. The L2 BT also comes with an on-board remote level control, so you can match the level of your Bluetooth device and the level of your head unit and use the L2 BT remote as a system volume control. Let's go one step further. If you do most of your listening on an iPod, MP3 player or other Bluetooth device, why do you need a head unit? Indeed, when you have the ASP-L2 BT line controller, you have your Bluetooth input, signal line controller and volume control. The main unit thus becomes an optional accessory!
