Do you dream of a single, universal device that would fulfill all your audiophile needs? FiiO came up with a solution some time ago with its M17 portable amplifier model. It was a unique product that is really able to replace a full-fledged desktop amplifier. Its weight corresponds to this, which is directly proportional to its properties. However, the designers at FiiO have come up with a new generation of portable all-in-one with the M15S model, which gets rid of the only disadvantage that the M17 had – very high weight. At the same time, it still has the performance of a desktop device. It offers a dedicated “desktop” mode that unlocks when plugged into a power source with fast charging support. You can switch between five gain settings to support as many headphones as possible. It has six operating modes, among which are Pure Music, Android, AirPlay, USB DAC, Bluetooth reception and the new Roon Ready modes.

Luxury processing and hardware

The M15S features a fully split digital power source, reducing crosstalk and interference. ES9038PRO, which is used in desktop amplifiers and has eight separate D/A converters, was chosen as the DAC chip here. An FPGA+NDK femtosecond crystal DAPS digital audio cleaning system is used here, which acts as a clock to prevent deviations in the entire circuit. There is a new graphene technology to cool the device and prevent unwanted battery heating. Thanks to the QCC5124 chip, the M15S offers SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD, LDAC, LHDC codec transmission and SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD, aptX LL, LDAC and aptX Adaptive reception. The whole device is powered by a Qualcomm 660 chip and the operating system is Android 10.
