SGM Beta 2 anti-vibration material

Anti-vibration material of the Beta model series from SGM, which consists of self-adhesive polymer butyl rubber and aluminum foil with a thickness of 60 microns. The film with a square embossment and black lacquer is equipped with the manufacturer's logo, on the assembly side the material is protected by a siliconized film. The anti-vibration material from the Beta series stands out for its low price, high adhesion to metal surfaces and stability. An acoustic loss factor of 0.26 units together with a thickness of 2 mm allows for sufficient vibration prevention capability. The biggest difference compared to the basic Base series is therefore higher adhesion to metal and efficiency due to more significant values of the acoustic loss factor. Like all SGM anti-vibration materials, Beta 2 is resistant to water, moisture, oils and has anti-corrosion properties.

The main properties of the anti-vibration material SGM Beta 2

  • Anti-vibration material with a thickness of 2 mm, which reduces body vibrations and resonances.
  • The basic series from the SGM company, which stands out for its excellent price/quality ratio.
  • High adhesion to metal, resistance to water, moisture, oils and anti-corrosion properties.
  • Simple installation on all types of surfaces without the need for heating.
  • High flexibility of the material for quick and easy application.
  • Aluminum foil with a thickness of 60 microns for increased strength of the material.
  • A wide area of application for soundproofing all areas of vehicles.

Where to apply the SGM Beta 2 anti-vibration material

You can apply SGM Beta 2 anti-vibration material almost anywhere where you need to reduce vibrations and resonances. Due to the thickness of 2 mm and a sufficient acoustic loss factor, they are particularly suitable in areas with lower to medium vibration loads. Beta 2 is ideal, for example, for the outer and inner sheet metal of doors, and it can also be used as the first layer in soundproofing, roofs, mudguards, torpedoes or plastic wheel arches. You can also use Beta 2 on the floor, the bottom of the trunk, the wheel arches or the engine compartment, but we recommend choosing an anti-vibration material with a thickness of 3 or 4 mm for these areas. The most common uses of anti-vibration material SGM Beta 2:
  • Outer door sheet
  • Inner door sheet
  • The suitcase lid
  • Roof
  • Torpedo
  • Plastic wheel arches
  • Space under the rear seats
  • The bottom of the trunk
  • Front metal wheel arches
  • Rear metal wheel arches
  • Floor
  • Fenders

About SGM damping materials

The Russian company SGM Technology was founded in 2006, and since then it has been one of the leading Russian manufacturers of sound and heat insulation materials for the automotive, shipbuilding, aviation and construction industries. The combination of excellent physical properties of materials and technological methods is the result of the highly efficient performance of the specialized workforce of SGM, which consists of specialists from the best technical universities of Russia. Currently, SGM offers over 200 types of materials that meet the strictest quality and stability standards with certification according to ISO 9001: 2008 and ISO / TS 16949. Long-term cooperation with such giants as Bosch or LG is proof of the highest quality of SGM products, which has long been one of the best on the market today. At the turn of 2019 and 2020, the SGM company presented hi-tech noise-reducing materials from the top Prime series, which in their performance slightly surpass even the premium materials of the market leader in noise reduction from Comfortmat. You can buy the products of both highly competitive manufacturers, who are constantly competing with innovations in the field of vehicle sound deadening, on our e-shop with a guarantee of the most technologically advanced and most effective products of today. Thanks to the official representation of our company for the Czech Republic and Slovakia, you can count on sufficient stock and professional service.

Acoustic Loss Factor (MLF)The acoustic loss factor (in English, mechanical loss factor) expresses the ability of the material to absorb propagating sound and change the energy of vibrations created by the sound into thermal energy. The theoretical maximum loss factor is 1, which means no vibration. For example, non-sound-proof steel with a thickness of 1 mm has a loss factor of approx. 0.001 at 200 Hz. Therefore, the higher the loss factor, the better. By combining damping materials, it is possible to significantly increase the loss factor to values approaching 1. 0.26
