Volkswagen Polo - sound system with DSP processor

Sound system of the fifth generation VW Polo, including measuring the frequency response of the speakers followed by setting the DSP processor program. The owner of this car approached us with a request to significantly improve the quality of the factory sound system and increase the performance. In view of listening to more demanding classical and opera music as well as Italian performers from the 80s, it was necessary to choose an appropriate solution and take into account the financial limit, which should be around 30 thousand CZK. After a thorough analysis, we decided on an advanced sound system from the Italian manufacturer Steg, which includes an amplifier with a DSP processor, component speakers for the front doors and coaxial speakers for the rear. Of course, part of the installation was thorough damping of the door with SGM anti-vibration materials. Finally, it was time for measurements and detailed sound settings on the DSP processor. Using a calibrated microphone, we measured all the shortcomings and obstacles of the given car and set the spatial correction of the equalizer for all speakers in the car. Subsequently, we set time corrections, levels, bandpasses and other options that the DSP processor will allow us. The goal of this installation was to achieve high-quality sound without distortion at higher volumes, while at the same time maximizing the potential of the speakers and adapting the sound not only to the driver's position, but also to the car in question. And for an acceptable price, which we managed to the last detail. And that was also the intention of this installation - to show that the use of a DSP processor is important even in the case of installing cheaper components. Thanks to a thorough setting and, above all, equalization based on measuring the frequency response of the speakers, their sound will change beyond recognition than if we connected the speakers only to the amplifier or car radio itself.
