Volkswagen Scirocco - soundproofing of doors and wheel arches

Sound deadening of the front doors, rear sides and front and rear wheel arches of the Volkswagen Scirocco. Its owner wished to reduce the noise of these problem areas that plague most vehicles, VW included. If for some reason you don't want to do a complete soundproofing, during which we thoroughly soundproof the undercarriage from the inside, the second option is to soundproof this area from the outside. Although there is a little less space, you will still notice a significant effect. First, we apply the professional Comfortmat Atom anti-vibration material to the body, which has a high acoustic loss factor (MLF) of 0.60 units. Such material effectively prevents vibrations and reduces the penetration of low-frequency noise. We then apply the Comfortmat Raptor membrane material to the plastic part of the undercarriage, which, despite its small thickness of 4 mm, provides a respectable sound insulation capacity of up to 30 dB. We choose the same materials for the rear wheel arches, only we apply both layers to the body due to the absence of a plastic part of the wheel arch. We already consider soundproofing of doors to be an absolute standard. If you want to reduce the noise in the interior of the car, it is a good solution to start right at the door. Through them, a large amount of noise penetrates into the interior of the car, and by applying up to 5 layers of highly effective anti-vibration and anti-noise Comfortmat materials, we can significantly reduce this noise. In particular, we applied premium anti-vibration material with a very low weight Comfortmat Dark D2 to prevent vibrations of the outer and inner sheet metal, as well as the membrane noise-absorbing material Comfortmat Integra with sound insulation capability of up to 28 dB and finally the noise-absorbing material in the form of Comfortmat Soft Wave polyurethane foam. The result is not only a reduction in the noise penetrating through the front door, but also an improvement in the sound of the factory sound system and the prevention of various unwanted sounds, such as creaking or squeaking of plastics due to traffic or listening to music.
