Amplifier with Helix V Eighteen DSP processor

Amplifier with Helix V Eighteen DSP processor

Whether upgrading a multi-channel premium sound system or even designing a completely new, extensive audio configuration: the HELIX V EIGHTEEN DSP is an all-in-one tool for anyone with insatiable audio ambitions. This versatile marvel sets new standards for enhancing and implementing highly complex audio setups.

Multifunctional amplifier

In keeping with the Pure Class GD concept, this 18-channel amplifier combines exceptional sound quality and high performance to provide an impressive musical experience for even the most demanding audiophiles. In addition, the HELIX V EIGHTEEN DSP offers the same number of 18 high-level inputs with an input sensitivity of up to 32V RMS, enabling 1:1 routing of inputs and outputs. Especially when replacing existing components is a hindrance and only expansion via another amplifier is possible, the V EIGHTEEN DSP with its extensive adaptability is the ideal solution. The remarkable twenty (20!) separate DSP channels are managed by two extremely powerful "Fixed Point" Audio DSPs with 64-bit resolution in conjunction with our unique DSP PC-Tool.

Virtual Channel Processing – this is how signal routing works today

Accommodating modern OE audio systems through an increasing number of inputs has a significant impact on the complexity of signal routing inside the amplifier. In particular, when multiple input signals are mixed together and then re-distributed into multi-path systems, conventional routing concepts quickly hit their limits. Audiotec Fischer's new multi-stage "Virtual Channel Processing" in conjunction with the acclaimed user-friendly DSP PC-Tool software facilitates the implementation of even highly complex system configurations. In addition, it allows you to freely assign our proprietary audio FX functions such as "RealCenter" or "Augmented Bass Processing".

Fast computing power - thanks to ACO

The HELIX V EIGHTEEN DSP is of course equipped with our own 32-bit ACO platform, which not only takes over all control tasks ultra-fast, but also handles a lot of audio functions: Fantastic sound effects such as Augmented Bass Processing or Real Center are implemented as well as an 18-channel input equalizer including an input analyzer (ISA) for easy analysis and compensation of the input signals of OE radios that already have sound settings from the factory.

Perfect sound without compromise

The sound performance of the new HELIX V TWELVE DSP MK2 is as strong as its range of features. High-efficiency Class GD technology and BurrBrown's most advanced AD and DA converters ensure optimal audio performance, the best possible signal-to-noise ratio and minimal harmonic distortion. The TWELVE DSP MK2 is therefore an absolute sonic masterpiece despite the extremely high flexibility and very compact design and does not have to hide from the absolute top.

The main features of the Helix V Twelve DSP MK2 amplifier

  • Automatic remote switch.
  • Compact design with low heat dissipation thanks to exceptional efficiency.

GD class amplifier technology

Audiotec Fischer's proprietary Pure Class GD concept takes the efficiency of conventional Class D amplifiers to the next level. By varying the internal supply voltage depending on the input signals of the amplifier, the no-load losses are greatly reduced and the overall efficiency is always close to the maximum. So heat dissipation is almost negligible, allowing for the smallest coolers and the most compact shapes. In addition, the Pure Class GD amplifier outperforms conventional Class D designs in terms of sound quality by implementing a fully differential signal path and improved output filter design.

ACO - Advanced 32-bit CoProcessor

The HELIX V EIGHTEEN DSP includes an extremely powerful 32-bit latest generation co-processor for all monitoring and communication tasks, both internal and external. Unlike its 8-bit generation predecessor, this MCU achieves much higher speeds with regard to switching settings and data communication with our DSP PC-Tool software. Another significant advantage is the integrated native CoProcessor loader. It allows software upgrades of all DSP components to adapt the ADEP.3 microcontroller controlled circuit, for example in case of future modifications / changes in the diagnostic system of factory radios or if the device is expanded with additional interfaces. In addition, thanks to the new flash memory, ACO offers 10 memory locations for sound settings instead of the usual two.

ADEP high level smart input.3

Modern, factory-installed car stereos include sophisticated diagnostic capabilities for connected speakers. In particular, the latest generation of car radios are equipped with additional monitoring functions, so when connecting a regular amplifier, quite often error messages and loss of specific functions (eg fader function) appear - but not with the V EIGHTEN DSP.
The new ADEP.3 (Advanced Diagnostics Error Protection, 3rd Generation) circuit avoids all these problems without unnecessarily loading the OE radio's speaker outputs at high volume.

Start-Stop option

The HELIX V EIGHTEEN DSP switching power supply ensures a constant internal supply voltage even when the battery voltage drops to 6 volts during engine cranking.

Power saving mode

Energy saving mode is part of the basic settings. It allows to significantly reduce the power consumption of the amplifiers that are connected to the HELIX V EIGHTEEN DSP when no input signal is present for more than 60 seconds. Please note that in many modern cars with "CAN" or any other internal bus structure, the radio may remain "invisible" on for up to 45 minutes. even after locking and leaving the car! As soon as "Power Save Mode" is active, the remote output and thus the connected amplifiers are switched off.
If a music signal is applied, the V EIGHTEN DSP reactivates the remote output within a second. It is possible to either adjust the switch-off time to 60 sec. or completely disable the "power saving mode" using the DSP PC-Tool software.
