Comfortmat S2 anti-vibration material

Basic anti-vibration material Comfortmat of the Standard series, which underwent a complete innovation in 2021. At first glance, the new print of the material, which now corresponds to the current design of Comfortmat products, catches the eye. However, the improvement was not limited to the design, and innovations can also be found in the composition of the material, specifically its slightly higher efficiency and grip. Comfortmat S2 consists of a self-adhesive butyl rubber layer and an aluminum foil with a rectangular pressed structure. The Standard model series was introduced after many years of development in the Comfortmat laboratories with a unique S-Formula composition, providing input materials with unique properties that are often offered by even premium materials from competing manufacturers. Thanks to the use of purpose-modified elastomer, the cushioning material Comfortmat S1 has a high acoustic loss factor, excels in superior adhesion to metal, is resistant to water, moisture, oils and extreme temperatures, has anti-corrosion properties and retains the same properties in winter and summer.

Unique technology of the Standard model series

Comfortmat S2 has a special film, the production process of which uses HotAL double heat treatment technology. This guarantees increased rigidity of the film while maintaining excellent flexibility during work. The new inFliz technology for the simple application of the butyl mixture on aluminum foil allows for a complete absence of air between the layers, and thanks to a more even distribution over the entire surface, it significantly improves the properties of the materials. The new design with a grid on the foil helps in cutting the material, facilitates installation and also protects Comfortmat products from counterfeits. The material is available in thicknesses of 1.5 mm, 2 mm and 3 mm.

The main properties of the anti-vibration material Comfortmat S2

  • Anti-vibration material with a thickness of 2 mm from the basic model series Standard.
  • High adhesion to metal, resistance to water, moisture, oils and anti-corrosion properties.
  • Resistance to natural influences and extreme temperatures - it retains the same properties in winter and summer.
  • HotAL technology for increased rigidity of the aluminum foil while maintaining high flexibility during application.
  • Simple installation on all types of surfaces without the need for heating.
  • The new inFliz technology enables the complete absence of air between the layers of butyl and aluminum foil.

Where to apply the Comfortmat S2 anti-vibration material

You can apply the Comfortmat S2 anti-vibration material almost anywhere where you need to reduce vibrations. Due to the thickness of 2 mm and a sufficient acoustic loss factor, they are particularly suitable for areas with lower to medium vibration loads. Comfortmat S2 is ideal, for example, for the outer and inner sheet metal of doors, and it can also be used as the first layer in soundproofing, roofs, mudguards, torpedoes or plastic wheel arches. You can also use S2 on the floor, bottom of the trunk, wheel arches or engine compartment, but we recommend choosing anti-vibration material with a thickness of 3 or 4 mm for these areas. In our article " how to choose an anti-vibration material ", you will learn all other information about anti-vibration materials, their use, and the right choice. If you are not sure what materials and in what quantity to use for vehicle soundproofing, use our soundproofing configurator . The most common uses of the Comfortmat S2 anti-vibration material:
  • Outer door sheet
  • Inner door sheet
  • The suitcase lid
  • Roof
  • Torpedo

Acoustic Loss Factor (MLF)The acoustic loss factor (in English, mechanical loss factor) expresses the ability of the material to absorb propagating sound and change the energy of vibrations created by the sound into thermal energy. The theoretical maximum loss factor is 1, which means no vibration. For example, non-sound-proof steel with a thickness of 1 mm has a loss factor of approx. 0.001 at 200 Hz. Therefore, the higher the loss factor, the better. By combining damping materials, it is possible to significantly increase the loss factor to values approaching 1. 0.27
