Anti-vibration material Comfortmat Cobra
Premium anti-vibration material from the Comfortmat company, which stands out for its currently unsurpassed ratio of efficiency and light weight. The material introduced in 2022 replaces its successful predecessor Comfortmat Dark D2 and brings several improvements, new production technologies and a revised design. The most important innovation of this exclusive anti-vibration material is the increased efficiency with an acoustic loss factor (MLF) of 0.40 units, which is not available in any other anti-vibration material on the market today with a thickness of up to 2.3 mm. So it was possible to achieve the same efficiency as with the original Dark D3 material with a thickness of 3 mm, but the weight of the Cobra is 20% lower. Such parameters were made possible mainly thanks to the newly developed sealant, which, in addition to the above, also has significantly higher stability and adhesion. Comfortmat's engineers also started developing a completely new aluminum foil, which was used for the first time in the automotive industry and contributes to a significant increase in efficiency. At first glance, the new matte design with a snakeskin pattern will also catch your eye, which will also allow for a higher adhesion of the second layer of noise reduction. Like all Comfortmat anti-vibration materials, Cobra is resistant to water, moisture and oils, has anti-corrosion properties and, thanks to its resistance to extreme temperatures, retains the same properties in summer and winter. The main properties of the anti-vibration material Comfortmat Cobra
- Premium anti-vibration material with a thickness of 2.3 mm and extremely low weight.
- An excellent ratio of weight and efficiency that no other material offers in the given thickness.
- Acoustic loss factor (MLF) of 0.40 units for effective vibration prevention.
- Increased adhesion to metal, stability and new aluminum foil with a thickness of 120 microns.
- Resistance to water, moisture, oils and anti-corrosion properties.
- The same properties in winter and summer thanks to high resistance to extreme temperatures.
- Simple installation on all types of surfaces without the need for heating.
- A new design in black-orange with a matte surface that increases the adhesion of the second layer.

Where to apply the Comfortmat Cobra material
You can apply the Comfortmat Cobra anti-vibration material almost anywhere where body vibrations need to be reduced. Due to the thickness of 2.3 mm and the high acoustic loss factor, the material is particularly suitable for areas with medium and medium-high vibration loads. Thanks to its very low weight, Cobra is especially ideal for the outer and inner sheet metal of the door, and it can also be used as the first layer for soundproofing the roof, mudguards, torpedo, hood, as well as the space under the rear seats or the bottom of the trunk. You can also use the material on the floor, wheel arches or engine compartment, but we recommend choosing anti-vibration material with a thickness of 3 or 4 mm for these areas. In our article " how to choose an anti-vibration material ", you will learn all other information about anti-vibration materials, their use, and the right choice. If you are not sure what materials and in what quantity to use for vehicle soundproofing, use our soundproofing configurator . The most common uses of the anti-vibration material Comfortmat Cobra:- Outer door sheet
- Inner door sheet
- The suitcase lid
- Roof
- Torpedo
- Hood
- Plastic wheel arches
- Space under the rear seats
- The bottom of the trunk
- Fenders
About Comfortmat materials
The Comformat company has been operating on the market since 2010 and during that time has quickly established itself as a leading global manufacturer of anti-vibration and sound insulation materials. Comfortmat brought new technologies to the automotive industry enabling maximum efficiency, lower material weight, constant efficiency even in extreme temperatures and, last but not least, very easy application. Acoustic Loss Factor (MLF)The acoustic loss factor (in English, mechanical loss factor) expresses the ability of the material to absorb propagating sound and change the energy of vibrations created by the sound into thermal energy. The theoretical maximum loss factor is 1, which means no vibration. For example, non-sound-proof steel with a thickness of 1 mm has a loss factor of approx. 0.001 at 200 Hz. Therefore, the higher the loss factor, the better. By combining damping materials, it is possible to significantly increase the loss factor to values approaching 1. | 0.40 |
